Kites In The Classroom: Kites in the classroom guest kite builders Cliff Quinn, Joyce Quinn, Chuck Wagoner and volunteers will spend the day at Davis Elementary School where they will lead kite making workshops for ALL third graders. Using materials donated by these guests, each child will have an opportunity to "make and take" their own kite and show them during the parade & festival on Saturday.

Dad's Waffle Breakfast at Veteran's Memorial Building will be offered by the Grinnell Optomist Club. 7:00 to 11:00 at the Veteran's Memorial Building - downtown.





11:00 A.M. Kite Parade from downtown Grinnell to Ahrens Park. Watch for the parade route. Click HERE to check out the parade route and to enter the parade.

12:00 Noon Mass Ascension of kites at Ahrens Park with the third grade kite builders showcased in the performance area.

12:30 until we run out of kits. Children's kite making class in the Grinnell Athletic and Recreation Center at Ahrens Park.

3:00 Indoor kite flying demonstration.

4:00 Raffle drawing for special items to be announced.

At Dusk - Night Flight

THROUGHOUT THE DAY:

Mega Kites Aloft flown by Don Murphy, Bruce Kenkel and other members of Nebraska and Bob Rymaszewski of Wisconsin.

Sport and Stunt kite demonstrations and lessons by members of the Kansas City Kite Club and the Illinois Kite Enthusiasts featuring Mike Kory.

Indoor kite flying demonstrations.

Unique and colorful kites of all sizes and forms flown by AKA (American Kitefliers Association) members from several states.

Unique and colorful ground displays led by the Kansas City Kite Club.

Tom Cross, kite historian, will have a display of the history of kiting and kite memorabilia display.

Food will be available on the grounds from the Hy-Vee Deli.

(Hamburgers - Hotdogs - Brats - Pork Chops on a Stick - Turkey Drums - Steak Sandwiches and Chicken Sandwiches - Chips - Pop -Soda and Water)

The Sonora Grange will offer Funnel Cakes and Cotton Candy.

Kites and kite related items will be sold by the Chicago Kite Company.
