Oswego Earth Day and Kite Fly April 19th 2008

It may not be easy bein’ green, but this April in Oswego it sure will be fun! Earth Day is going to be a wonderful day to enjoy in Oswego this spring. The Oswegoland Park District is combining their popular kite fly with the Village of Oswego’s Reuse and Recycle Extravaganza. Saturday April 19th 2008 will be a day of conservation, celebration, and education, not to mention kites, crafts, music and fun.

The day will begin with an Earth Day Conservation work morning with the Oswegoland Park District. The Reuse and Recycle Extravaganza kicks off at 9 a.m. The Village’s ECO Committee provides area residents with an opportunity to recycle and reuse those items you just don’t know how to part with. House and Car batteries, cell phones, Scrap metal, Antifreeze, printer cartridges, VHS cassettes, eyeglasses, household cleaners, electronics and more can be brought to the Oswego Public Works Building, 100 Theodore Drive from 9:00 – 3:00. For a complete list of items call the Village at 554-3618.

At noon the Kite Fly and Festivities begin at PrairieFest Park, just across from the Public Works Building. Kite Fly clubs from around the area will fill the sky with their massive and beautiful creations. Families can come to watch, fly their kites or build one of their own at the event or buy one from Chicago Kite. The festivities will also feature green demonstrations like rain barrels, solar cells, utility meters, and wind power turbines. For questions on the Oswego Earth Day or to be a part of it
